We handle estates of any size and also welcome individual items of significant interest. We seek primarily antique furniture and decorative arts, porcelains, art glass, antique oil paintings, modern & contemporary fine art, estate jewelry, fine French, Continental & American antique furniture, antique & modern sculpture, mid-century furnishings, clocks, books and antique silver. However, we will also evaluate other categories of significant or historical importance such as Asian art and rare, unusual items.
An initial evaluation can take place either at your home or at our gallery during our Tuesday walk-in evaluations. Appraisal professionals will help you determine the estimated auction value of your items. In addition, at Dallas Auction Gallery a professional will personally walk you through our Terms of Sale, Consignment Agreement and auction process so you are comfortable in your decision and expectations. Again, it’s about keeping things simple.
From here, we handle all the details. We photograph, research, and catalogue your items, complete final estimated values and then market your items to our extensive global market of buyers. When the auction is complete, you receive a preliminary report of what your items sold for and twenty-one business days following the auction, you will receive your proceeds.

Do you need an Estate Sale or Estate Auction?
Decisions regarding the liquidation of an estate or a lifetime collection can be overwhelming. Sometimes quick or uninformed decisions can lead to the disposal of your assets at values far less than their true worth. With one call to Dallas Auction Gallery, we will take the first step with you to help you make the best choices for realizing the greatest potential value from your assets.
In an estate sale situation, buyers do not get an opportunity to preview merchandise. They are required to make quick decisions and your chance to buy an item is often based on your place in line before the sale opens. In many estate sale situations, some of the best merchandise is pre-sold to the dealers, friends and co-workers of the estate sale company before the doors are open to the public.
In an auction setting, everyone has equal opportunity to evaluate an item in advance as well as compete equally for the winning bid.
If as a seller, your estate is put in an estate sale, the items are pre-priced. If they do not sell the first day, the prices are then reduced thus lowering your return. In an auction, every item sells. The prices are set in a competitive bid environment and every item sells to the highest bidder. Even if they cannot attend an auction, buyers can still bid through an absentee, telephone or online bid.
In addition to the advantages of global marketing and increased competition provided by the auction environment, our commission scale is considerably more favorable that those charged by estate sale operators. An estate sale typically costs the seller 30-40% of the gross sales. In an estate scenario with multiple heirs, an auction is a simple way to solve the problem of who receives what. Each family member has the same chance to purchase an item at auction and the proceeds are then divided up among the heirs.
Many municipalities frown upon estate sales and limit the advertising signs. These sales bring large groups of people to a quiet the neighborhood. The potential damage caused by crowds comes at a cost and is a liability of the seller. Auction houses attract serious buyers and keeps all of your inventory in their gallery safe and secure until after the auction.
All auctioneers in the State of Texas must be licensed by the State and post notice of this information at the auction. If there is a problem or complaint you may contact the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Estate sale operators are not licensed by any government or association entity, so if there is a problem with your purchase or sale, you really have no official recourse.
Dallas Auction Gallery provides full service estate consignment management designed to maximize values with the utmost integrity, discretion and personal service. Our professionals can advise your family on the best options to achieve your needs. Dallas Auction Gallery is committed to keep things simple.
